Immersive theatre specialists Global Immersion, now part of Electrosonic, has installed a high performance and versatile digital Giant Screen Cinema system, GSX.
Global Immersion says the new Peoria Riverfront Museum, Illinois, USA, is the first GSX giant flat screen theatre and the highest resolution digital Giant Screen Cinema in the world capable of 2D and 3D presentations – the only theatre to offer multiple, automated aspect ratio modes including 4:3 at 4K by 3K resolution.
The screen measures 70ft (21.3 metre) by 52 ft (15.8 metre) with 200 theatre seats. The features will enable the museum to play traditional Giant Screen films, streamed, alternative, live and online media in multiple aspect ratios and file formats (including Digital Cinema Initiative [DCI]-encrypted films). The system is capable of playing content at up to 60 frames per second and in 12-bit colour depth.
