The new ride will be the main attraction in a new Ducati-themed area of the park that is expected to open in 2019
German roller coaster manufacturer Maurer Rides is set to open a brand new interactive thrill coaster at Mirabilandia Park in Ravenna, Italy.
Expected to launch in 2019, the ride, called Ducati Panigale V4, will be the star attraction in the upcoming Ducati World area of the park, a first-of-its-kind area dedicated to the iconic motorcycle brand.
Based on the company's Spike concept, which won best new product at last year's IAAPA Brass Ring Awards, the coaster consists of two tracks, measuring 525m in length, and features an extreme 270-degree turn as well as a jump-like camelback and a 22m drop.
The parallel tracks are designed so that riders can race each other, while drive systems in the themed vehicles, designed to look like the Ducati Panigale V4 bike, put riders in complete control of their own speed.
Jörg Beutler, general manager at Maurer Rides, said: "This is the World's First Interactive Racing Coaster on which passengers will become a Ducati Panigale V4 Superbike rider. With the two tracks of Spike Ducati Competition a real race between two vehicles is possible and only the best and fastest wins."
