The six-piece collection claims to use 100 percent halal ingredients
Nail care company ORLY has partnered with MuslimGirl.com to create an exclusive collection of halal-certified nail polishes.
Created for and by Muslim women, the collection claims to be made with 100 per cent halal ingredients and has been certified as halal.
The nail polishes feature ORLY’s Breathable formula, a unique formulation that is permeable to both water and oxygen, allowing nails to breathe.
Practicing Muslim women have previously had to avoid wearing traditional nail polish as it creates a barrier on their nails, which causes issues during wudu, an Islamic purification ritual where parts of the body, including the hands and nails, are cleansed with sacred water before prayer. The breathable formula allows water to pass through the layer of polish, making it less of a barrier to wudu.
The capsule collection features six nail polishes, including five colours; nude, berry, red, rose-gold and white, and a top-coat. The polishes have been given tongue-in-cheek, pun-based names, including ‘Ig-Noor the Haters’ and ‘the Perfect Amani-Cure.’
Amani Al-Khatahtbet, MuslimGirl.com founder, says: “Many of us could never find our names on a keychain, so we wanted to make sure we provided that experience through this collection.”
Azmia Magane, chief of staff at MuslimGirl.com, says: “This line is important because there are so many girls and young women who aren’t represented in mainstream beauty. This is our way of bridging that gap.”
Tal Pink, digital director at ORLY, says: “We’re thrilled to partner with MuslimGirl. ORLY Breathable is ideal for this collaboration not only because of the halal certification, but it’s also a one-step application that is infused with argan oil, pro-vitamin B5 and vitamin C. The permeability of the polish also makes for longer lasting manicures.”
ORLY nail paints are available as a beauty partner or retail line for spas and salons.
